1. Only a three-year gap between the two times Amsterdam was host to the European Championships, they had previously hosted it in 2004.
2. The 2004 European All-Around Champion, Alina Kozich, went on to win the bronze medal at this competition.
3. Alina Kozich’s bronze medal in the all-around and Floor are the most recent medals for a Ukrainian gymnast in those two particular categories.
4. The reigning World Champion, Vanessa Ferrari, became the European All-Around Champion.
5. Vanessa Ferrari had qualified first to the bars and beam final but ended up 6th (missed her Comaneci salto) and 8th (missed her backhandspring into full twist and her dismount) in the actual finals.
6. Stefani Bismpikou won Greece’s only medal at a European Championships, bronze on beam.
7. Among the medalists there was only one “new senior”: Ekaterina Kramarenko, who won bronze on the uneven bars.
8. Kramarenko’s medal was sort of a birthday present, she had turned 16 on April 22nd and the uneven bars final was held on April 29.
9. The host country top results were Lichelle Wong 8th place on bars and Verona Van De Leur 9th place in the all-around.
10. However, a new senior for the Netherlands had competed in the preliminary round finishing 21st on bars and beam. Nine years later she would become the Rio Olympic Beam Champion, yes we are talking about Sanne Wevers.
